Jackson Borchardt

PhD Researcher

Jackson is a PhD student in the UCSF / UC Berkeley joint Graduate Program in Bioengineering.

He is interested in the interplay between digital and biological computation -- in leveraging machine learning and other computational analysis techniques to better understand biological cognition, and in leveraging biological systems and insights to build better computational tools.

Before joining the lab and the Bioengineering program, Jackson studied computer science and machine learning.

He worked for some time as a software engineer, but he has renounced that lifestyle and all of its trappings. In his spare time, he buys and sells gray market computers, consumer electronics, and unconventional snow sport apparatus.
